How to get to Kloster Banz ?

Kloster Banz is close to Bad Staffelstein, situated about 200 km east of Frankfurt and 100 km north of Nürnberg (Nuremberg). Here you find a map ("Zum Online Stadtplan") of the city of Bad Staffelstein.

By plane

Airport Frankfurt (FRA)
Frankfurt is the major airport in Germany. A drive by car from Frankfurt airport to Kloster Banz takes 3 hours. The train station (Fernbahnhof) is located directly at the Frankfurt airport providing long distance service. Travelling by train from Frankfurt Airport long-distance train station to Lichtenfels takes 3 hours.You will have to change trains once (in Würzburg) or twice (in Würzburg and Bamberg).

Airport München (MUC)
München (Munich) has another important international airport in Germany. A trip by car from München airport to Kloster Banz takes 3 hours. Travelling by train from Airport München to Lichtenfels takes 3-4 hours. First, you have to take a local train (S-Bahn S8) to München main station which takes about 45 min. Here, you can switch to a long-distance train. Most convenient is the intercity express (ICE) to Leipzip/Berlin which directly connects München and Lichtenfels.

Airport Nürnberg (NUE)
Nürnberg (Nuremberg) is the airport closest to the conference site. It provides service to nearly all German airports and to many European airports.
From Airport Nürnberg you can reach Kloster Banz by car within one hour.
You can proceed to the Nürnberg main train-station by subway (line U2) which takes 12 minutes. There is a frequent train service between Nürnberg and Lichtenfels, travelling time is 1-1.5 hours.

By train
The closest railway station providing long-distance service is Lichtenfels (7 km to Kloster Banz). We plan to organize a shuttle service from Lichtenfels train station to Kloster Banz on Sunday and from Kloster Banz to Lichtenfels train station on Friday. A cab (taxi) from Lichtenfels train station to Kloster Banz is approximately 15 EURO.
Lichtenfels is located at the railway route Nürnberg-Leipzig. Intercity express trains (ICE) running between München (Munich) and Berlin are stopping in Lichtenfels every two hours. Local trains are running to e.g. Bamberg, Bayreuth, Jena, Nürnberg, or Würzburg.
There is a possibility to buy train tickets online via credit card. If you do so you are required to print out your online ticket at home and present it to the conductor in the train together with your credit card.

By car
Kloster Banz can be reached by car via federal road 173 (exit Bad Staffelstein-Nord or Lichtenfels).

From Berlin/Leipzig
Take Autobahn A115 (southbound, direction Leipzig) until you reach Autobahndreieck Drewitz, merge onto Autobahn A10 (westbound, direction Leipzig), after 10 km merge onto A9 (southbound, direction Leipzig, Nürnberg), stay straight onto A9 for 300 km until you reach Autobahndreieck Bayreuth/Kulmbach, merge onto Autobahn A70 (westbound, direction Bamberg), after 36 km take exit 19 (Rossdorf a. Berg), toward Rossdorf a. Berg, Wattendorf, Steinfeld, Würgau, turn right onto ST2190, after 1km turn left onto Rossdorf a. Berg/BA28, continue to follow BA28 for 4 km, turn left onto Hauptstrasse/ST2210, turn right onto ST2204, after 12 km turn right onto Anschlussstelle Staffelstein-Ost, merge onto B173 (direction Lichtenfels), after 1.5 km turn slight right onto Anschlussstelle Staffelstein-Nord, turn left onto ST2197 (direction Bad Staffelstein), enter next roundabout and take 1st exit onto ST2204 (direction Unnersdorf). In Unnersdorf turn right onto Kloster-Banz-Strasse (2nd street, not Hausener Str.), after 1.5 km turn left onto the parking lot of Kloster Banz.

From Dresden
Start out from Autobahn A4 (westhbound, direction Chemnitz/Leipzig) until you reach Autobahndreieck Chemnitz, merge onto Autobahn A72 (westbound, direction Nürnberg), stay straight onto A72 for 105 km, at Autobahndreieck Bayerisches Vogtland merge onto A9 (southbound, direction Nürnberg), stay straight onto until you reach Autobahndreieck Bayreuth/Kulmbach, merge onto Autobahn A70 (westbound, direction Bamberg), after 36 km take exit 19 (Rossdorf a.
