Since 1998 the Department C1 is active in research on ultrafast (bio) molecular dynamics in the condensed phase that is contained in the project 2-04 (a merger of previous projects II.11/2.05 and II.12/2.06). The team (2011, 2009, 2008, 2008, 2005, 2005, 2004) working on femtosecond molecular spectroscopy on condensed phase systems have their roots in the previous versions of the Departments C1, C3 and B3. The team was formed in 1998 from Raman experts of the Lau-group and ultrafast spectroscopy experts originating from Department C3. Biophysicists of the Leupold-group and of the Hamm group have contributed in the years 1999-2003 with research on photosynthetic light harvesting and multidimensional spectroscopy of peptide systems, respectively.
